Software Schedule

This is the proposed schedule for the software development.

Version 0.1

  • Have One of the Editors Showing Up
  • Design editors for levels, skills, etc. for other developers.
    • Level Editor Idea: Have a grid that allows changing the style of tiles on it (make it a snow tile, river tile, rock tile, etc.), adding opponents and giving opponents lines of text, among other things. Save it to intermediate file type that the game can import.

Other things for 1.0

These are things that need to be done, but aren't tied to a specific version, yet. If you think it should be moved into the schedule for development, please bring it up in this thread.

Art Team

  • Design a background to be imported for level 1 test. http://grifkuba.net/forums/showthread.php?tid=77
  • Come up with Symbols for the Mana Types and Stats
  • Draw the ESS's concept art, portraits and sprites.
    • Potraits are for anytime we need to see them up close (like when they are speaking)
Comment: Needs clarification. What exactly does it look like when a character is speaking? Are text boxes used? How are they portraited, where do they appear? How big are portraits?--Vellidragon (talk) 19:59, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
  • Sprites are for overworld, grid-movements, etc.

Programming Team

  • Program the grid and place symbols on it. Have the symbols move around to represent characters, field items, mana, etc. ( pending )
    • Render the grid in graphical isometric form ( In progress )
    • Enable an array of (floor) tile placement data to be loaded by the engine and the tiles to be displayed accordingly on the isometric grid
  • Begin work on a basic map editor that allows for such an array to be created and stored in an external file
  • Come up with basic GUI that will be used later on.

Version 2.0 and beyond

These are things I want to implement one day, but we are nowhere close to implementing them.

  • Muliplayer, LAN and Internet playing. See This thread.
  • Allowing players to become a GM and have their own stories.
  • Editors for Levels, Skills, etc. so people can play other people's ideas with their own party as a post-game bonus.
Unless you mean user-friendly ones, editors will have to happen much earlier - for us to use, not necessarily for the player.--Vellidragon (talk) 20:15, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Ideas for Spinoffs, Sequels, etc.

  1. Poppy's Ballon Adventure - A 2D platformer where Poppy uses her natural balloon abilities to overcome obstacles
  2. A dress up game where characters in the universe can wear clothing, equipment, etc. that are also from the universe.

Reserved Word
Terms that are defined for specific contexts and rules.

General Terms

Combatant
A character currently engaged in battle, taking up one or more tiles of the grid.
Protection
Nullification of a skill (usually a spell), nullifying all damage, and ending the character's action.

Magic Terms

Fire, Aether, Electric, Wood, Water, Metal, Yang, Yin, Wind and Ice
Reserved Words specifically for magic, mana, spell subtypes, etc.
